The udder is the most important part of the dairy cow
because that is where milk is produced. The udder of a cow should
be strongly attached and close to the body like these. We call the
physical appearance of the udder and its strength of attachment udder
conformation.

Udders with poor conformation (not strongly attached)
are more susceptible to mastitis and injury and can be difficult to
milk.
